Pharmacology, koalas and Coronavirus with Merran Govendir, Australia
‘Can I order a big one from Amazon?’
Merran is a veterinary pharmacologist who works in Australia. Merran talks about how her parents moved from the UK to Australia, and how her journey took her from being a veterinary surgeon to becoming a professor of Veterinary pharmacology at the University of Sydney.
Merran talks about how she teaches veterinary students and about her research into the use of different drugs in koalas and how the koala metabolism differs from other animals.
I asked Merran about the newly developed treatment to treat Feline Infectious Peritonitis in the cat and about coronavirus in both people and animals.
The episode finishes with a little dive into the Great Barrier Reef of Australia.
